Bleu Mélancolique considers the desire to leave pain behind and the impossibility of fully erasing what has changed us. Layers of blue gather, dissolve and resurface across an expansive pale field, where melancholy gives way to memory, beauty and the possibility of reconnection.

I do not use white or black paint. Instead, glazed layers of blue, violet and red bring light and depth to the gessoed canvas.
