Frequency 1 holds intensity in a state of compression rather than stillness. A dark horizontal rupture tears through the center, a physical break in the composition where thick impasto and deep scratches suggest a force pushing from within.

The surrounding red fields are built in layers and selectively finished with glazes that catch the light, giving the crimson an almost liquid depth. Beneath this surface, cobalt, ultramarine, and indigo press outward, meeting the heavy resistance of the red.

There is a restless history here. The vertical fissures and shifts in sheen are the ghosts of earlier states, traces of memory or emotion caught just beneath the surface. The painting holds that tension in place, caught on the verge of breaking.
