Pressure - Partial Release holds opposing forces in a state of compression. A saturated red field bears down against a dense band of cobalt, violet, and indigo, while vertical breaks and irregular passages interrupt the boundary between them. The structure appears to have shifted under pressure, but not fully opened, leaving the composition suspended between containment and release.

Built without black or white pigments, the painting derives its deepest darks from layered blues and violets and its luminosity from buried layers of color. Through repeated layering, removal, and reworking, earlier reds, blues, and violets surface through subsequent passages, allowing the painting’s previous states to remain physically present within the final surface.

Pressure - Partial Release considers the moment when accumulated force finally produces change, but not resolution. Something has given way, yet the pressure remains. The painting occupies that unstable interval, altered by what has happened and enduring inside what has not yet been resolved.
