In Remanence, an expansive field of crimson descends toward rising formations of cobalt and deep indigo. The boundary between them is irregular and unstable, with vertical passages of red penetrating the blue and darker forms interrupting the surrounding color. Small, luminous traces of red persist within the indigo, creating moments of intensity against the painting's dense, atmospheric depth.
Without the use of black or white pigments, successive glazes of crimson, cobalt and violet create shifts in luminosity and depth. Earlier colors remain embedded within the darker passages, occasionally breaking through as small, luminous red marks. The accumulated layers preserve traces of what came before, even as the surface takes on a new form.
Remanence considers what persists as a significant experience unfolds. Earlier states remain embedded within an evolving sense of self, neither fully erased nor resolved, but enduring through the process of change.
