Acrylic on canvas, signed and ready to hang.

In Volcanic, color operates as both weight and geological force. A searing upper field of crimson presses down against a dense, jagged terrain of cobalt and subterranean indigo. The tension of the painting lives along this central fault line, an unstable threshold where high-saturation pigments collide.

Built without black or white pigments, the work relies on layered blues and violets for its deepest darks, while translucent acrylic glazes allow light and color from earlier painted layers to emerge through the surface. Traces of previous states remain partially visible, absorbed into subsequent layers without being fully erased.

Volcanic considers how significant experiences rupture our sense of self, leaving earlier states permanently embedded beneath what emerges.
